Details

B1

Temporary visitor for business

  • If you are a national of a non-VWP country or if you wish to stay more than 90 days for business purposes (for all VWP country nationals). The B1 does not allow you to accept employment in the US, but you can negotiate contracts, meet clients, assist or participate in seminars, visit expositions, and take customer orders.

B2

Temporary visitor for pleasure

  • If you are a national of a non-VWP country or if you wish to stay more than 90 days for tourism purposes (for all VWP country nationals).
  • If you enter with a private jet or boat, or if you travel with a one way ticket.

B1/B2

Temporary visitor for business and pleasure

Covers all B1 and B2 requirements.

To qualify for these visas, you need to overcome the presumption in Section 214 (b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) that all visa applicants are intending immigrants. You can overcome this presumption by providing evidence that you have strong, binding ties to your home country and that you have no intention of abandoning your residence abroad.
