Passport Renewal by Mail
Change in Fees for all U.S. Passport Applications: As of February 1, 2008, please be advised that the fees for all U.S. Passport applications will be modified. For further information, see U.S. Citizen Services Paris.
You must renew your passport by mail only if you meet ALL of the following requirements:
- You can submit your most recent passport.
- Your most recent passport is a full-validity passport (10-year) issued less than 15 years ago and issued when you were at least 16 years old.
- Your current passport is not mutilated in any way.
If you do not meet all three requirements, you must apply in person at the U.S. Consulate in Toulouse.
If you meet ALL the criteria for persons who may renew their passport by mail, please submit the following by registered mail (lettre recommandée) to:

- A completed Application for Passport By Mail (Form DS-82), filled out in black ink. Be sure to read the oath and sign the application.
- Your most recent U.S. passport (which we will cancel and return to you).
- Two (2) identical, recent, color photographs in correct format (see list of photographers).
- Evidence of name change, if you wish to have your name read differently from the name on your previous passport (marriage certificate, divorce decree, court ordered name change, adoption decree, etc.).
- Passport fee: $75.00
Payment in Euros must be made by postal money order (mandat-cash purchased from the French Post Office for the exact amount) or traveler’s check made out to the American Consulate Marseille, or by cashier’s check (chèque de banque). See fee schedule for fees in Euros.
Payment in U.S. dollars must be made by traveler’s check or credit card.
We do not accept cash or personal checks. - All new passports will be returned by mail using a Chronopost tracking system. Please enclose a self-addressed Chronopost envelope and note its tracking number.
