Since December 2008, an online appointment system has been available for most services requiring a personal appearance in Paris.

Online Appointment System for American Citizen Services Requiring a Personal Appearance

Passport applicants may be required to make a personal appearance and schedule an appointment online.

All services are available weekdays, during the hours indicated, except on French and American holidays.

Notarial Services are provided by online appointment, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and most Fridays at 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Consular Reports of Birth Abroad are available by online appointment only.

Information on Federal Benefits services is currently available Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., except on French and American holidays.

Security at the Embassy
Please do not bring any electronic devices, such as laptop computers, Blackberries, iPods, or large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages to the Consular Section as there are no storage facilities on Embassy grounds.  Security guards may hold small tourist cameras and cell phones until your departure, but there is no storage available for any other large items or electronic devices — please do not bring them at the time of your appointment.
