U.S. Passport Validity for Travel to France

You should have at least six months’ passport validity left on your U.S. passport, prior to the expiration date, whenever you travel to France.

If your passport does not meet the Schengen requirements, you may be refused boarding by the airline at your point of origin or while transferring planes.  You could also be denied entry when you arrive in the Schengen area.

    Security at the Embassy:

    Many items are strictly forbidden on the Embassy grounds.  No food or drinks allowed. Electronic items (anything with a power plug or battery), large bags, suitcases and luggage are prohibited: there are no storage facilities on Embassy grounds.  Service animals with documentation are allowed entry. Applicants who do not follow these instructions will experience considerable delays at the security check point which could result in the cancellation of the appointment.

    Applicants Only:  Only persons seeking consular services  who have made an online appointment will be admitted to the Embassy.   All requests to add names of persons for appointments (witnesses, persons accompanying a disabled person etc.) must be entered on the online appointment form.  For all enquiries please refer to our contact page.
