April 18, 2008 This traveling exhibit of modern American quilts will travel throughout France from April 2008 to the summer of 2009. It is organized in partnership with the City of Lafayette, LA, France Patchwork Association, France Louisiane-France Américanie and the historic quilt shop Le Rouvray that introduced quilting in France.

April 14, 2008 Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) is France’s top school of fine arts as well as the depository of a major and very valuable art collection. Its history relates to the US: from 1860-1940, over 500 American architects were graduates.

Taking down of George Washington's portrait by French painter
April 1 Ambassador Stapleton had agreed to loan this portrait to Libourne museum of fine arts (musée des Beaux-arts de Libourne) for its retrospective dedicated to painter René Princeteau, born in Libourne, entitled "Gentleman Princeteau" to open in Libourne next April 4 till June 13.

February 22 USNATO Ambassador Victoria Nuland delivered a speech at the Presse Club de France, calling for a "Stronger NATO, Stronger EU and a Stronger Relationship between Them." Organized by Paris Public Affairs in partnership with AmCham, the event drew more than 120 business and NGO representatives, journalists and members of the diplomatic corps.
U.S. Ambassador on a French submarine
January 11, 2008 The French Navy invited Rear Admiral Charles Leidig, Deputy Commander Sixth Fleet and Commander, Submarine Group Eight, Ambassador Craig R. Stapleton and Consul General Philip Breeden to spend a day on the French nuclear powered Attack Submarine (SSN) S605 AMETHYSTE for an at-sea demonstration of the ship's capabilities.
