Ambassador at the Great Mosque of Paris
December 19 Ambassador Stapleton joined President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal and Minister of Justice Rachida Dati in wishing "Aid Mabruk" (happy Eid) to Rector Dalil Boubakeur and the Great Mufti Hadidi at the Great Mosque of Paris. The Ambassador delivered President Bush’s Eid al Adha message, which the Rector Boubakeur read to the assembled group.

December 16-17 Secretary Rice travels to Paris, France December 16-17 for an international donors’ conference supporting Palestinian reform and institution building. Secretary Rice will also meet with French leaders to discuss our common efforts to address the full range of global challenges.

December 4 Ambassador Stapleton hosted a luncheon in order to showcase the upcoming new jazz festival “La Nouvelle-Orléans sur Seine” which aims at recreating New Orleans' Bourbon Street in the Châtelet area, Paris's historical jazz quarter.

France and America Celebrate the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary
December 3-4 Ambassador and Mrs. Stapleton enjoyed a guided tour of the exhibits, “Benjamin Franklin: un Américain à Paris 1776-1785” at the Musée Carnavalet-Histoire de Paris, and “Benjamin Franklin: homme de sciences, homme du monde” at the Musée des Arts et Métiers-CNAM.
