Adding Visa Pages to Passports

There is now an $82 charge to add extra visa pages to passports.

This procedure must be done by mail unless your departure is imminent, or you need to affix a residence permit to your current passport.

Visa pages may be added to current, full-validity passports (10 years for adults and 5 years for children) that are in good condition. There is an $82 charge for this service.

We generally recommend adding no more than two sets of visa page inserts to a passport because the added thickness may result in damage to the binding of the book during its validity.  Applicants who have already had two sets of visa pages added may wish to consider early renewal of their passport.

If you meet the above requirements, submit all of the following:

  1. Current valid passport;
  2. Completed, signed and dated form DS-4085;
  3. Include a self-addressed Chronopost envelope, available at all French post offices for the return of your passport. Processing and receipt times are approximately 3 to 5 business days.
  4. Pay the fee ($82) using the by mail instructions and credit card authorization form (PDF - 72 kb) which must be signed and dated, or a French mandat cash (blue form - money order) available at all French post offices.  We strongly recommend that you pay the passport fee using the credit card authorization form.  However, if you prefer not to use a credit card, you may submit a French mandat cash. See exchange rate for consular services to determine the euro equivalent, AND learn the proper type of French mandat cash (PDF - 266 kb) to be used for this service.

For faster service, we recommend you complete all passport application forms online and print them out for your signature. When printing out the form, please note that only one-sided pages of the application form are accepted.

You may also submit a typewritten or printed form. Please print legibly using black ink, and make sure that all of the entered information is complete and correct. Illegible applications may delay application processing times.
