I

Representatives of foreign information media, representatives of a foreign tourist bureau, or film crew members holding professional journalism credentials and intending to work on news or non-commercial documentaries

 

DS-156, DS-157 (males between 16 and 45 and all applicants born in/or citizens of Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Syria and Libya.)

 

Press Card
Letter from employer specifying:
- Purpose and duration of mission or assignment and
- Length of time applicant has been with the company (experience).

This includes aliens whose activities are essential to the foreign information media function; for example, media reporters, media film crews, video editors, and persons in similar occupations.

The I visa classification may be accorded not only to primary employees of foreign information media engaged in filming a news event or documentary, but also to the employees of independent production companies when those employees hold a credential issued by a professional journalistic association.

Spouse and children accompanying, or following to join, an alien qualified for an I visa may also receive the I classification.
