How to Find Us
The American Consulate General in Marseille, France is located at the Place Varian Fry, in the city's central 6th arrondissement (district). Travelers can find the consulate easily by going to the "Préfecture de Région" building (any cab driver will know where this is located; it is also indicated on all city maps), and then looking for the American flag at an angle across the street from the prefecture's main entrance.
By Car
- From Nice: Take A-8 to A-52 (Marseille Est). Follow to end of highway. Follow signs for "Centre-Ville", then "Préfecture".
- From Aix-En-Provence: Follow A-7 to "Vieux-Port/Joliette" Exit. Follow signs for "Préfecture".
- From Montpellier: Take Direction Arles, then follow signs for Marseille, then Préfecture. Paid underground parking is available at "Parking Félix BARET".
By train: From St.Charles Station take the Métro Line 1 (direction La Timone) three stops to "Estrangin-Préfecture". Turn left at top of escalator into Bd Paul Peytral where the Place Varian Fry is located on the left side.
Opening hours are: 9:00 am - 12:30 pm & 1:30 - 5:00 pm. Monday-Friday, except U.S. and French holidays when we are closed. Certain routine consular services, including notarizations, are provided by appointment only, so be sure to request an appointment by phone, fax, or e-mail (see addresses or numbers below).
