Jazz Appreciation Month - Herbie Hancock’s inspirational message to French youth
Upon Ambassador Rivkin’s invitation, Herbie Hancock participated in an informal talk with a group of young people from La Courneuve (a community North of Paris) at the Ambassador’s Residence. UNESCO Honorary President of Good Will, Herbie Hancock is in Paris to launch the International Jazz Day celebrated on April 27, but he took the time to answer questions about his responsibility as an artist, his musical influences, and his commitment with UNESCO to engage youth throughout the world and raise awareness in the international community about the virtues of jazz as an educational tool, and a force for peace, unity, dialogue and enhanced cooperation among people.
