Secretary of Energy Chu at the International Energy Agency Governing Board Meeting

On October 14 in Paris, Secretary Chu attended the International Energy Agency Governing Board Meeting where he delivered remarks during the working lunch for Heads of Delegations highlighting the Obama Administration's efforts to pursue a clean energy economy and fight climate change.

The IEA Ministerial meeting opened in Paris for a two-day event with the theme “Responding to Energy Challenges in Partnership”. Energy Ministers from the 28 IEA member countries are meeting at OECD headquarters to share views on the key energy and environment challenges facing the world today. This year´s Ministerial coincides with the 35th anniversary of the IEA – an occasion for which IEA partner countries China, India and Russia have been invited and participate for the first time together, along with three distinguished guest speakers, Dr. Henry Kissinger and Viscount Etienne Davignon - two key founders of the IEA - and Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
