4-14 Festival

July 10-12, 2009

For its first edition, this festival gathered 15,000 visitors in Dijon and hosted American and French chefs for a few days of culinary experiences and musical performances. Festival 4-14 aims to bring French and American audiences to a better understanding through simple, direct and individual contacts, using cooking as an efficient get-together tool. It was also the opportunity to show American chefs, including White House pastry chef, at their best and make American culinary traditions and creativity better known. The festival’s policy is to enable a large and diverse audience to experience this mix of cultures at a minimal cost (portions from $2,50 to $10). Providing a grant to this festival allowed the USG to show its interest in mixing and sharing cultures and culinary traditions as well as counter the stereotype that American food is limited to hamburgers. Due to the large success of this first edition, organizers and local officials have decide to repeat the festival next year.
