Embassy Celebrates Youth Ambassadors' Return From the States
November 18, 2008
Fourteen high school students from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities traveled to the United States under the Embassy’s Youth Ambassador program. While in the United States the students met with the French Ambassador and State Deptartment officials and visited the Capitol and the Service Learning office at Maryland’s Deptartment of Education. Half of the students traveled to San Diego where they stayed with host families and attended classes at Preuss High School. The other half traveled to Seattle where they stayed with host families affiliated with the organization, One World Now. The highlight of the trip for most of the students was there observation of the U.S. presidential elections. Upon their return, the students received certificates of participation from Ambassador Stapleton and Deputy Louis Giscard d’Estaing, President of the French-U.S. Friendship Committee at the National Assembly.
