American Photographer at the Mona Bismarck Foundation in Paris

October 21, 2008

Ambassador Stapleton inaugurated the opening of the photo exhibit “Serendipity” by American photographer Kim Powell at the Mona Bismarck Foundation.  Attended by approximately 100 guests, this new exhibit presents an installation based on color photographs taken in Sri Lanka by American artist Kim Powell and offers the visitor a chance to absorb the visual and cerebral richness of Sri Lanka.  Photographer Kim Powell is an active member of the American community in Paris where she has been living and working for the past 15 years.  Her work has been highly praised for its message, as well as its technique.  In 2008 Kim Powell was featured in My-Linh Kunst’s Beyond Borders:  Portraits of American Women from around the World.

The Mona Bismarck Foundation is an American Foundation established by Countess Mona Bismarck (1897-1983) to promote artistic, musical, literary, scientific and educational activities, in particular those that encourage Franco-American friendship.
