Ambassador Honors African American Leader and Motown Former President Clarence Avant

Ambassador Stapleton hosted African American leader and former Motown president Clarence Avant ,who visited France to receive a career-service trophy at the Aime Cesaire Awards Ceremony, for a breakfast discussion with outstanding French artists, civic leaders and intellectuals.  Guests included former Minister of Culture and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Jack Lang, French musicians Manu Dibango, Menelik, Hame, and the Nubians among others.  Press specialized in the topic of diversity also attended including Respect Magazine, Trace TV and Bondy Blog.  This event underlined the embassy’s commitment to building bridges between the U.S. art world and leaders of diversity in the cultural field in France at the highest level.
