Conference on Copyright and Counterfeit in the Digital Economy

U.S. Ambassador to France Craig R. Stapleton will host a transatlantic conference on “Copyright and Counterfeit in the Digital Economy” in Paris on June 2, 2008.

Occurring on the eve of the French Presidency of the European Union, the conference will bring together French and American leaders from the technological and creative economies.  It will offer participants a unique forum to exchange views and underscore the shared commitment to protect copyrights and combat counterfeiting in the digital era. 

 

The morning session will feature prominent members of the U.S. and French governments, as well as business leaders.

 

Speakers will include the French Culture and Communications Minister, Christine Albanel; Chairman of the Olivennes Commission and Director General of Nouvel Observateur Magazine, Denis Olivennes; BSA President Robert Hollyman; Sybase CEO John Chen; President of the Motion Pictures of Association of American, and Dan Glickman.

 

Representing the creative talent that underlies intellectual property, musician Jean-Michel Jarre will provide the perspective of an artist and performer.

 

The afternoon will be devoted to workshops.
