Colloquium on the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election at the Ambassador’s residence

April 10, 2008

Given the overwhelming interest in the 2008 U.S. presidential election, the Embassy organized a half day colloquium at Ambassador Stapleton’s residence.

More than fifty members of the media, think tanks, Prime Minister’s office and ministries participated in a lively discussion with guest speaker, Dr. Stan Greenberg (from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner) following a brilliant talk by Dr. Greenberg on “Candidates, Issues and Stakes in the 2008 Presidential Campaign”.

During a roundtable, a panel of well-known U.S. and French commentators such as Christine Ockrent of France Monde, Nicole Bacharan of Europe1 radio, Pascal Riché of internet news service rue89.com and Serge Schmemann of the IHT expanded the discussion by offering “Observations and Questions from France” on the U.S. election.
