Ambassador Stapleton attended the taking down for packing of George Washington's portrait by French painter René Princeteau (1843-1914).

The Ambassador had agreed to loan this portrait to Libourne museum of fine arts (musée des Beaux-arts de Libourne) for its retrospective dedicated to painter René Princeteau, born in Libourne, entitled "Gentleman Princeteau" to open in Libourne next April 4 till June 13. The portrait was taken down from the Ambassador's Residence stairway in the presence of Libourne museum curator Marguerite Stahl, Le Monde journalist Christophe Donner from Le Monde 2 and APP Bordeaux Consul Kenneth Forder.
