Ambassador Stapleton on a French submarine
January 11, 2008: The French Navy invited Rear Admiral Charles J. "Joe" Leidig Jr, Deputy Commander Sixth Fleet and Commander, Submarine Group Eight, Ambassador Craig R. Stapleton and Consul General Philip Breeden to spend a day on the French nuclear powered Attack Submarine (SSN) S605 AMETHYSTE for an at-sea demonstration of the ship's capabilities and to reinforce Franco-American military ties.
