Ambassador hosts diner at the American Museum of Art in Giverny

June 30, 2006

On June 30, Ambassador Stapleton hosted a dinner in honor of the opening of the "Winslow Homer: Poet of the Sea" exhibit at the American Museum of Art in Giverny. The dinner, which was attended by approximately 50 guests from Paris and the Haute-Normandy region, was preceded by a guided tour of the new exposition and brief remarks by the Ambassador on the importance of maintaining Franco-American cultural ties. The American Museum of Art in Giverny, established by the Terra Foundation for American Art, celebrates the American artists (mostly late 19th and early 20th century impressionists,) who lived and painted in the Giverny art colony alongside their French counterparts.
