ACAO Reaches Out to Students and Teaching Corps at ZEP High School in Vierzon (Cher)
November 22, 2005
On November 22, ACAO Colombia Barrosse participated in a one-day-program at Edouard Vaillant High School in Vierzon. Under the initiative of their English teacher and in coordination with other teachers, a class of 12-15 year old pupils is studying various aspects of the US society. Throughout the day, she discussed with teachers and students some of the topics under study, including the death penalty, the U.S. judicial and education systems, the impact of 9/11 and the war on terrorism and in Iraq, religious and ethnic tolerance, integration and, on a lighter note, U.S. holidays.
The students also had an opportunity to present their own projects and ask questions about the U.S. School officials and teachers expressed their satisfaction about the program. The Embassy's Information Resource Center had prepared several documents that were left to the school resources center. This was the opportunity to reach out to younger audiences, providing them with a better understanding of the U.S.
