Environment

The United States has taken a leadership role as a global environmental steward in developing a better understanding of environmental options and in shaping a sustainable approach to development. Opportunities for environmental improvements are not limited to Federal government actions - States, local communities, business and individuals contribute to a safer, cleaner and healthier future.

Under "In the News," you will find information about the latest U.S. efforts to protect resources, prevent greater climate change and work with other countries to protect the world's environment. Under "Issues in Depth," you will find many resources and explanations of the U.S. position on a wide range of environmental issues in addition to reports and publications issued by international organizations and American think tanks. "Web Alert" provides access to documents available on the web dealing with different topics of environment. For more information, check out "Related Sites."
